Sizing among different brands is all over the map. I no longer buy any clothing made in China because I wear (at least what used to be) a woman's extra large, and all XL in Chinese women's clothing seems to really be large or medium.

No I don't like it at all. I have to buy what appears to be a bigger size. Like you, I also wear an extra large. But I now have to buy a 2X. It is still the same size, just marked differently. Still, I don't' like it. It makes me feel fatter than I already am!!!

A few months ago, my girlfriend and I were visiting Belgium. While shopping there, she tried on a ring but didn't buy it. However, I noticed that the ring was size 18. Now we're back in the US, and there is a ring I want to buy for her as a surprise gift, but I can't quite figure out what size to get. I've found several ring size conversion charts online, but they usually have separate columns for German, Swiss, and European standards. (And I theoretically and logically could see Belgium adopting any of these three standards.) Additionally, I've read that in some countries, the ring size is the same as the diameter in millimeters... which could be the case here too. Does anyone know for sure?

My friend has tried out a weddingdress in Sweden but wants me to buy the dress in the US as the price is sooo much better here... She found the dress in european size 38 was a perfect fit for her - but here in the US european sizes are not noted. Does anyone know if there is a standard convertion table between europeean and american sizes that i can trust enough to buy this wedding dress in american size!?

Even 38 in Europe is not standard. The references have a good conversion chart that will get you close. The second one does list Scandinavia.
