How to write a European style CV?
Hi, I'm trying to turn my current resume into a European-style CV (curriculum vitae) for study abroad and scholarship applications. I can get help from my university, but I'd like to give it a shot myself first. I know Word has templates, but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or knew of templates that were aimed at college students, or had any tips for tackling this.
Thanks.
You can take help from any of these site.. http://www.samplecvs.org/manager-cv/importexport-manager-cv.html http://www.cvtemplate.net
How to change the size of a photoshop psd ?
Hi,
I have some templates of US business cards that I need to change to european sizes. Let's say the US size is 9cm*5cm and I want it to become 8cm*5.5cm (example sizes). What I need is to change the size of the layers inside the psd (not change a jpeg or png size).
So is there a way to change the size of the whole photoshop working space, with it keeping proportions for fonts images etc, while not cropping the working space?
Thanks !
What you're asking is 2 different questions. 1. DESIGN Size If you want to change the design's size from 9x5cm into 8x5.5cm, you have to change the proportions of the canvas size. Cut the width and enlarge the height. Image -> Canvas Size -> Type the size LAYER Size: If you want to resize only the content of a layer, click on the layer you want to change. Edit -> Transform (or simply use Ctrl+T) To constrain proportion click and hold "SHIFT" while you're resizing from the "corner points", otherwise it'll get distortion. Or you can type the size of at the left top, click the chain icon between W and H for proportional transform. 2. FILE Size If you want to change the size of the whole Photoshop working space without cropping, it means you want to resize the File's size (like from 3 MB to 2MB or others). There are three ways: >>1. Image -> Image Size -> Change the size on width or height Check the box on "Constrain Proportion" bellow (make sure the chain icon between width and height is on to constrain proportions) >>2. Image -> Image Size -> Change the "Resolution" (known as "dpi") (300 dpi is good quality, 150 dpi is ok, 72 dpi is low quality) >>3. Save as a copy of PSD [Flatten, no layers] or Save as JPEG -> "Quality" between 0-12 or if needed you can change "Format Option" Baseline Standard is the default for normal use, Progressive is the highest. PS: I actually prefer using Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw for corporate designs with less photographic images. (^_^)
Is this the "progressive" European definition of responsibility?
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/28/world/europe/28germany.html
German Minister Resigns Over Afghan Airstrike
"Germany’s former defense minister, Franz Josef Jung, resigned Friday, saying he accepted “political responsibility” for accusations that the military withheld information on a deadly airstrike in Afghanistan in September that killed civilians as well as insurgents.
"Mr. Jung’s announcement followed the resignation Thursday of the chief of staff of the German armed forces in an episode that has set off tremors in both the political and military establishments in Germany. "
Well, isn't that something. Apparently in "progressive" Europe, taking responsibility involves doing something more than just saying "I take full responsibility" and then returning to your office and going right back to work as usual as if nothing happened.
Which is what Tim Geithner did after he took 'full responsibility:"

Tim Geithner Takes Responsibility For AIG Bonuses
"Tim Geithner says he take "full responsibility" for knowing the stimulus legislation had a loophole that would allow bailed-out insurance giant American International Group pay massive bonuses to employees"

On Capitol Hill, Geithner Defends Policies
"Senator KEVIN BRADY (Republican, Texas): The public has lost all confidence in your ability to do the job.
Secretary TIMOTHY GEITHNER (Treasury Department): If you look at any measure of confidence in the financial system, it is substantially stronger today than when the president of the United States took office.
Sen. BRADY: At some point...
Sen. BRADY: ...you have to take responsibility for your decisions.
Sec. GEITHNER: I take responsibility for anything I am part of doing. I'd be happy to do that. What I can't take responsibility is for the legacy of crisis you've bequeathed this country.
Sen. BRADY: This is your budget. This is your bailout. This is your stimulus. This is your act.
Sec. GEITHNER: I take full responsibility for those with great honor and pleasure.
"
Why is the European definition of responsibility different from Geithner's?
This is an administration built on lies. It's expected.
